This is what happens when you hit something with a real wheel. It doesn’t break apart. It doesn’t create shrapnel. It doesn’t create an immense danger on the track.
Your tire deflates, your car hops, and you pull over to the side.
Safety. Yet another reason to support the real wheel industry.

Yawn. My rotas feel pretty real, I can drive on them and everything :D
Well, next time I’m professionally competing in some form of motorsport with a vehicle that cost hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars to build I’ll keep this in mind. Until then, I’ll be supporting fake wheels. I bet these bad boys would have held up better if they’d been 24k gold plated, too? Not everyone has the luxury of rich parents, and for the rest of us fake wheels work fine in most applications.
I love how this isn’t even an apples to apples argument at this point. LowBudgetKrew posts about how one of their members hit a curb in his Miata but was able to easily and quickly repair it due to the wheel taking the majority of the impact.
the80sareforever and his throng of cock-riders aren’t happy about the “FUCK REAL WHEELS” comment, so a few days later we’re met with this smart-ass response.
The funny thing is, both wheels work best in their respective applications. LowBudgetKrew’s poor group of late teen/early 20s drifters aren’t going to shell out thousands of dollars for any kind of real or forged wheels, and for the reasons mentioned in the post linked above, they’re much better off using whatever is cheap and widely available due to the nature of the sport which often involves hitting things, breaking wheels, and needing replacements.
By the same token, no one was arguing that F1 (or any kind of race car) drivers should be rolling around on ROTAs. In applications like this obviously you want the strongest, most BEAST-MODE, forged wheels that aren’t going to fall apart on impact and create a hazard on the track.
All of that said, what is this argument really over? Fake wheels aren’t cool, right? They must not be, the80sarforever said so (and he tracks his cars, right? ohhh the irony), and just about everyone who re-blogged the original post from him had nothing but negative comments about LowBudgetKrew’s Miata and how running fake wheels automatically meant the owner has the IQ of Kraft Miracle Whip and must have “cheaped out” on every other aspect of his car as well.
I guess my question is, what budget wheels are okay? Can we get a Mike Burroughs-approved list of budget wheels that folks can run without being called stupid or talked down to on Tumblr in Mike’s signature, holier-than-thou, condescending attitude?

^^^ amen.
People usually like stuff with a whole 10 page essay on there..so here you go(:
